    Our Seghill Community Centre Club

    Every Tuesday & Thursday 10am – 4pm

Main Street North, Seghill, Cramlington, NE23 7SB

Seghill Community Centre is the original Miner’s Welfare Institute building and is situated on the main street through the village.

Originally built by the mine owners for their workers and families in 1906, the Community Centre is still called the Seghill Colliery Institute and is affectionately known as The ‘Tute by the locals. The Community Centre is ran by the Seghill Community Association. This dedicated voluntary group has been responsible for running the Community Centre (Institute) since 1962 when the mine closed.

They promote activities for the community of Seghill and surrounding areas and have invested a lot of time into raising funds to refurbish and reinvest into the building.

In the last couple of years they have renovated the roof, the toilets, many of the smaller rooms and the main hall and stage.

    Meet our Dementia Care Specialists

    Meet Anna Sherratt

Excited to be at the forefront of Rainbow’s mission to change the way dementia services are delivered across the UK. My Nan lived with dementia for a number of years and she would have loved the Rainbow Day Care Clubs. I know we are going to impact many lives in the local area with our specialist service.

Having owned an events management and team building company for many years, I am looking forward to this new direction, to being able to make a real difference to people’s lives and to incorporating my skills into setting up and operating the day clubs.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is the taster day free?

Totally. We want you to experience the day as if you were a full member. This means places are limited, so please contact us today to reserve a place.

Is it a full day or half day?

The day runs from 10am until 4pm. This is really important to give the carer a full day respite, but also to embed the loved one into the group. The change that takes place when someone gets a full day of stimulation is much faster, so beneficial all round.

Can the carer stay with the loved one?

We don’t advise this, no. This is because it is as important for the carer to get some time off and feel refreshed as it is for the loved one to feel part of the group.

    Is there food?

Yes, we provide a healthy, nutritious lunch for all. (Allergies will be discussed prior to a taster day)

    Do you give personal care?

We can provide personal care and we will deliver this support in the most respectful and dignified way possible. We provide a thorough assessment where we will be able to offer clarification on everything we can provide as part of our service.

    Carol - A Carer's Perspective (Video)

As this video about Leeds rugby legend, John Atkinson, and his wife and carer Carol, testifies, Rainbow's Dementia Day Services really do make a difference. When it comes to dementia care, we look at the person and not the diagnosis.
