    Meet our Dementia Care Specialists

    Jim and Gemma

    Hello,

We’re Jim and Gemma, proud owners of Rainbow Care Group – NE London & West Essex.

Rainbow Care Group is close to our hearts. Gemma’s father was diagnosed with dementia at just 60, and after going through that journey as a family, we saw how difficult it can be to find the right kind of support locally. We realised there was nothing in the area that truly offered what families like ours needed, so we decided to open our own.

We both come from big families with strong, wholesome values, where looking after grandparents and supporting one another has always been part of life. Those values are at the heart of how we want Rainbow Care Group to feel: warm, welcoming, caring and personal.

Gemma has a background in theatre and community work, engaging with local people of all ages. She brings creativity, warmth and energy to the service, helping to create meaningful days filled with connection, conversation and activity.

Jim has spent his career working as a Project Manager in the City and is now bringing those skills into a service much closer to home and heart. He brings a calm, practical and caring approach, helping to build a service that families can trust and rely on.

North East London and West Essex is our home, and we are proud to be bringing Rainbow Care Group to the local community. Together with our incredible day-to-day team, our aim is to make every person who joins us feel like one of the family.

We want our members to enjoy meaningful days, feel connected to the people around them, and leave with a smile. Just as importantly, we want families and carers to leave without worry, knowing their loved one is safe, valued and in good company, while they receive the well-deserved respite they need.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is the taster day free?

Totally. We want you to experience the day as if you were a full member. This means places are limited, so please contact us today to reserve a place.

Is it a full day or half day?

The day runs from 10am until 4pm. This is really important to give the carer a full day respite, but also to embed the loved one into the group. The change that takes place when someone gets a full day of stimulation is much faster, so beneficial all round.

Can the carer stay with the loved one?

We don’t advise this, no. This is because it is as important for the carer to get some time off and feel refreshed as it is for the loved one to feel part of the group.

    Is there food?

Yes, we provide a healthy, nutritious lunch for all. (Allergies will be discussed prior to a taster day)

    Do you give personal care?

We can provide personal care and we will deliver this support in the most respectful and dignified way possible. We provide a thorough assessment where we will be able to offer clarification on everything we can provide as part of our service.

    Carol - A Carer's Perspective (Video)

As this video about Leeds rugby legend, John Atkinson, and his wife and carer Carol, testifies, Rainbow's Dementia Day Services really do make a difference. When it comes to dementia care, we look at the person and not the diagnosis.
