We created the blueprint for a day care service, drawing on each of our areas of expertise and interest. Our combined experience in care and activities, meant that we could incorporate person centred care with a full day of activities and stimulation. We both left our jobs and started our day service 1 day a week in Harrogate. We opened our first day club in October 2014 with 3 people in attendance. I personally, will never forget the feeling on our first day of opening. I felt a huge sense of achievement. Leaving a secure job and setting out on my own was something so out of character for me, but I have known since that first day that I was doing exactly what I was meant to do.
Over the next couple of years, our service steadily grew. We opened in other locations, supporting more clients and growing our small team…
